Restaurant Internet Marketing - It's Not Your Father's Yellow Pages

As a restaurant owner or manager are you taking advantage of all the opportunities offered up by the Internet or are you still counting on word of mouth and a traditional print marketing program to get diners filling your place? Are you even aware of what the Internet marketing can do for you? If you're not you're giving up business to your competition.

Take a moment to Google your type of restaurant (Italian, seafood, deli etc) and the name of your town and see what comes up on the first page. Do you see your name? How many competitors do you see? Now ask yourself "How many potential diners are going to come to my restaurant based on these results"? The answer of course is nada. Can you afford to give that business to your competition?

Location, location, location

Many local small and medium sized businesses have discovered the value of having an internet presence but it wasn't always that way. Most local businesses thought the internet best served big companies. On top of that, most small local businesses simply didn't have a clue how to participate effectively and they were too busy running their businesses to learn how.

The fact of the matter is that 72% of all searches are related to a search for local content. Nearly a year ago the monster search engine Google changed their algorithms so that local results show up on a search inquiry whenever appropriate. That means your shop can be just as competitive as a national restaurant chain when it comes to being found in search.

The difference between search and traditional advertising

So why is search such a big deal? The reason it is so much more effective than traditional marketing is that it responds to a specific need at a time when the potential diner is interested in the information. Unlike a weekly flier that's dropped in the home mailbox every Thursday, search doesn't clutter up a prospective diner's life but rater provides relevant information when the diner wants it not when the USPS delivers it.

When that potential customer is thinking about where to go for lunch he or she is going to search "pizza san pedro, ca" to find what's available in the area. In other words search delivers the information when the searcher is most receptive to it.

But wait there's more

Search by itself is reason to have a presence on the internet but the benefits certainly don't end there.

How would you like to be able to:

- Notify all of your customers what your daily specials are every day automatically.
- Invite your customers to place their order in advance so they don't have to wait for their food and do it without spending any time on the phone.
- Accept and confirm reservations electronically.
- Run promotional campaigns without spending a dime on advertising.
- Build solid customer relationships that will strengthen your word of mouth referrals.

And that's just the beginning. A professional internet presence will cost you significantly less than you are currently paying today for marketing. What's more, professionally managed internet presence keeps on giving even when you stop paying. Can you say that about your Yellow Page listing or print ads?

Online Reputation Management

There can be a potential dark side to this whole internet thing. You live or die on your reputation and it is important that you manage that reputation online. Never has the consumer had such an easy way to post anonymous comments for all the world to see. If you have a customer who has a bad experience don't be surprised if he or she posts it to a blog or a forum or gives you a bad review in the business directories.

Speaking of business directories, you already are on the internet even if you didn't know it. These directories scrape information out of Yellow Pages and other sources and add it to a business profile. You have a right to claim those listings and they are actually a great way to promote the business. But registered visitors also have the right to post reviews and if the only review your store has is from that disgruntled customer...your rep is shot.

There are just too many reasons that you have to get involved with the internet marketing. To not do so is to pass up an incredible opportunity for new business and to cement loyalty with regular customers. It's effective, inexpensive and essential if you want to remain competitive.

How to Start an Online Data Backup Business

The data storage industry has evolved into higher levels of sophistication in managing them through secure data centers. Be it maintaining them by mammoth data grids in mine vaults or shared computers like cloud computing, businesses that have started managing third party data have grown bigger and bigger and data management has become a very lucrative industry offering the pedestal for start up software companies to join the bandwagon.

Things that start up service providers should look for in setting up a profitable business are discussed in a very prolific manner. The kind of backup service a start up venture would want to offer depends mainly on the hardware, software and proximity to the client's work site from where the data gets backed up.

Taking these factors into consideration, we as a software vendor to many managed service providers document our experience to help users be enriched with the required knowledge to compete with the myriad businesses in the same league.

First things first, one has to sell the backup service as a package that would include both on-premise and remote backup services. On premise service, as the name suggests, entails data being stored at your client's place using their own data grids. Whereas remote backup service is to have the data loaded into third party hosting like cloud computing servers where client data is transferred through the internet. The latter practice has become very popular in terms of ease of use and cost effectiveness, especially fitting to the likes of start ups who would want to offer backup service for small consumers in their locality, university and small businesses. You can vend your services either to home consumers or people running small businesses depending on your initial hardware costs.

Secondly you need to look for the right software that would suit your data needs. Some recommendations would be to install backup software that helps in smooth transfer of data from your clients computer over to the backup server. It should have all the properties that I mentioned in my earlier articles, so that you do not have to encounter hassles and mess with your client's precious data.

Beware that any fallout on your service would be squarely blamed on you by the client and would adversely hit your relationship with other clientele. Under data exigencies the software used should be able to restore the data that might have got lost in the client's computer and recovered completely as original without even a single byte of data being lost. This aspect should not be ignored as most of the software fail when it comes to restoring the data back. We see to it that the software we build is resilient to huge data transfers and does not fall apart when needed the most.

Lastly, since it is a very niche industry, you have to select your target audience proportionate to the capabilities that would help deliver seamless service even across geographies. Also you need to have a good web portal of your business that elucidates the features of the service and also the pricing for instance whether it is a basic, premium or advanced backup plan. A good support service is required to assist your customers. With these we are very sure that one would definitely succeed and grow the business to greater heights, albeit these steps are not sacrosanct, one can tailor make it to their capabilities and business goals.

Really are the Education Industries do marketing activities as like eCommerce Portal?

“If you have command over English, you can command anyone”. This is the proverb used to say someone is expert in particular subject or particular business so that he has command over power compare to other team members. The Education System also started like that someone might be in the teaching profession couple of decade of years and he would have awarded by many of the Non-profitable organizations and Educational Body’s as “Best of the teacher”, “Award-winning headteacher”, “Teacher of the year”, etc…

The person mind & soul is full of upliftment of education for the nation. Being the education upliftment for nation as ambition he may start the school in very small way that too even without infrastructure because he is not the Businessman or not funded by Venture Capital (VC). But by the word of mouth, he would be getting overwhelming admissions for his schools though he doesn’t have any school infrastructure, process, standards, etc… Nowadays, we have 1000s of schools in the market but we can count it those kinds of schools being very few schools that too it may be single digit.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce one pre-school in Bangalore which has started in very small in last year that too less than 30 students (Without any marketing activity or marketing strategy). More than the education, they are doing as profession. You can’t imagine the kind of care or Toiling and moiling effort to improve the kids wisdom in all the aspects. You would be wondering even the 15 months old kid what they noticed and given the annual report. It’s amazing! Marvelous. Please find the sample report here. (Download). It’s our wishes to success in their academic excellence.

Important Note: Pramiti is one of the only schools along with Inventure Academy in Karnataka that is part of the India Inclusion Forum launched on 26th of January 2014 on the occasion of Republic Day.

Today the schools are opened by the business people as another business entity part of their business. It becomes chain of schools. It’s another way of revenue generating model. Recently we observed one chain of school opened nearing to our area BTM, Bangalore which has done 1….N Marketing Activity (we can say there is no more marketing activity) to fulfill the admissions. Even the corporate generate Crores of business everyday they might not be done such a Huge Advertisement. It’s called as Killer Strategy. Usually, the Killer Strategy would be implemented ONLY product based company to compete other product or services. But Schools are doing it’s unvitable. Because end of the day all this marketing expenses going to bear by parents.

It’s NOT only the schools are doing these marketing activities. Even most of the colleges, universities, B-Schools are doing these marketing activities. One of their key marketing activities or strategies is Bulk SMS Promotional Activities with the key Targeted Audience. i.e.)  ABC Company is offering B-School(MBA Course) as part time course, they go to Job Portal and target all the fresh graduates and download their contacts and keep sending them SMS Communication about the advantages of B-School, features, etc… and convert them to become the B-School enrollment.

Conclusion: It’s quiet common nowadays each educational institutions targeting their student base and keep sending the SMS Communication to convert them into admissions. It becomes one of the basic marketing activities for Educational Institutions.

Is Big Data right for your business?

Today, you can find “news” about Big Data just about everywhere. It’s being talked about in print magazines, newspapers, and all over the web. But, with so much news out there, how can you know if Big Data is right for your business, and, if so, how you should implement?

First, you need to have a working understanding of what Big Data is, and not the popular Cliff Notes version of the definition either. We’re talking about a real, working understanding. Big Data is a term used to describe technologies that allow companies to parse and catalogue datasets that are far too large to manage with conventional data gathering and mining tools.

One popular myth about Big Data is that it has only been around for “a couple” of years. Not so. In fact, major industries such as healthcare and entertainment have been using Big Data to “crack the code” for their production and marketing departments for years. So, we now have several years of a working understanding of how Big Data can work, and a proven track record in several major industries.

What IS true about Big Data is that many companies have just begun to take a serious look at it over the past two years. The world, we all realize, is changing. Smartphones are changing the way people use the internet and that, in turn, is changing how people shop, how they interact, and how they make the majority of their day to day decisions.

It’s a quantum leap forward in a short period of time, and that has many people wondering, and not a few CEOs worried. Is it too early to buy-in for their business, or, if they wait too long, will they be left behind, sacrificing market share to a more daring competitor? This conundrum is, in many ways, not unlike questions technology has forced on businesses before.

In the early days of computing, many companies wondered if they should jump on board, or keep doing things the old fashioned way. Well, we all know how that turned out.

Then, Jeff Bezos came along with an idea that became Amazon. Many companies, particularly in the publishing and entertainment industries, laughed him off the same way record companies scoffed at iTunes. Again, we all know how that turned out.

Bottom line? You will not know if Big Data will work for you unless you dig in, take it very seriously, and do what you can to learn all you can.
